A Tale of Two Oklahoma Cities

July 2015

It’s a tale of two cities here in The Living Room today because I’m joined by Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett and Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett Jr. And we’ve got an awful lot to talk about.  Sitting here in the studio with Mayor Cornett brings back so many good memories. He and I often sat at the anchor desk together years ago at KOCO TV.  Back then I never dreamed I’d one day be calling him Mayor Mick! And what a list of accomplishments since he was first elected Oklahoma City Mayor in 2004.  LISTEN NOW

Dewey Bartlett Jr. is no stranger to public service either, and is now serving his second term as Tulsa’s Mayor. He’s the son of an Oklahoma Governor and U.S Senator.  And, among many achievements, he’s been instrumental in helping restore financial health to Tulsa after some challenging times.  Mayor Bartlett is joining us by phone from Tulsa.  LISTEN NOW

Until next time in The Living Room, we’ll leave you with a stout observation from American Journalist Herb Caen.  He says,  “a city is not gauged by its length and width, but by the broadness of its vision and the height of its dreams.” That pretty much covers everything these men do every day, don’t you think? The Living Room with Gerry Bonds is supported by Chickasaw Country, providing information about events and attractions throughout the Chickasaw Nation and South Central Oklahoma.  Information at chickasawcountry.com.
