ICONIC OKLAHOMA FAMILY BUSINESSES

AUGUST 2018 | SHOW 708

Oklahoma is blessed with many iconic family businesses that started from humble beginnings and a healthy dose of hard work. During this episode of The Living Room with Gerry Bonds, we’re celebrating two enterprising Oklahoma families, that have supplied Oklahomans and visitors from far and wide with great food and memories.

There’s probably not a soul in Oklahoma who hasn’t been to Braum’s for an ice cream cone or a gallon of milk.  Braum’s is one of the largest dairy operations in America and this year is celebrating 50 years, 280 stores and counting!  Drew Braum, President and CEO is in The Living Room.  LISTEN NOW

Now it’s time to savor some Italian food! The Lovera family came to Pittsburg County in southeastern Oklahoma to work in the coal mines in the early 1900s, tragedy struck and a food market that’s now known for its award-winning cheeses all over the country was born.  Sam Lovera, who grew up in the 1950s, living above and working in Lovera's Food Market in Krebs, is in The Living RoomLISTEN NOW

Support for The Living Room with Gerry Bonds is provided by the McSwain Theatre in downtown Ada, Oklahoma, offering family entertainment and classic movies since 1920. Program and ticket information can be found at mcswaintheatre.com.
