Poetry and honey bees…what in the world do they have in common? This is a program about two essential elements of our lives, that maybe we haven’t thought enough about lately - we can boil it down to the words and the bees!

During this visit to The Living Room we sit down with Oklahoma’s Poet Laureate, Dr. Jeanetta Calhoun Mish. As the state’s Poet Laureate, she writes powerful poetry and essays, many about life in Oklahoma, but really about life, love and loss. LISTEN NOW

Did you know that we depend on bees for 30 percent of our food supply? But bees are dying at an alarming rate. Our next visitors, James Lowrey, the Oklahoma City Zoo’s head beekeeper, and Dr. Rebecca Snyder, Curator of Conservation and Science at the Oklahoma City Zoo discuss their cutting-edge beekeeping project. LISTEN NOW

Support for The Living Room is provided by the Artesian Hotel and Spa, in the heart of Chickasaw country in Sulphur, Oklahoma.  Information at
