Oklahoma: A Grand Land & History

April 2018

Did you ever wish you had paid better attention in your history classes at school? Sometimes it seems like we have to get all grown up before we begin to really value our heritage, doesn’t it?

This month in The Living Room, we’re celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Oklahoma Historical Society. In 1893, the OHS began collecting our state’s history - before Oklahoma had even gained statehood.

Our first guest, Dr. Bob Blackburn the Executive Director of the OHS, is here to discuss how essential the society - which houses at the world class Oklahoma History Center and protects historic homes and buildings all across Oklahoma - is to the identity to the Sooner state. LISTEN NOW

During the second half of our show, we’ll get an up close and personal view of two historical sites you need to visit with Robbin Davis, the museum director of the Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center in Enid, and Kathy Dickson, OHS Museum Director feature Hunter’s Home near Tahlequah. LISTEN NOW
