Goats and Eagles

February 2018

Sometimes we don't know enough about what's going on in our own backyards.  Here in Oklahoma, two research programs that have earned worldwide recognition may be a good example of that.  Believe it or not, they deal with, of all things, GOATS and EAGLES!!
The goat research program at Langston University may be one of the best kept secrets in the state.  You'll find herd after herd of goats on the working campus farm, and ongoing research affecting developing countries and our own country, ranging from meat and dairy production to clearing the invasive red cedar from our land. Dr. Terry Gipson leads the goat program at Langston and one of his star pupils is Coleman Sanders, getting ready to graduate this spring with a degree in Animal Science. LISTEN NOW
Later on, we'll head to Bartlesville where Audra Fogle of the Sutton Avian Research Center will tell us how saving the Southwest Bald Eagle is just one of their success stories. Wait till you hear how they're working to save some other endangered feathered friends! LISTEN NOW
