Holiday Gift Giving

December 2016

Merry Christmas!  There's always a lot of things to do and accomplish this time of year. Have you figured out what to purchase for everyone on your Christmas shopping list? Hopefully after listening to the three Oklahoma authors who are sitting down in The Living Room to discuss their books, you'll find a few answers!

Every December, we focus on new books by talented Oklahoma authors - not just for your own reading pleasure, but also because, to me, at least, along with a hug, a good book makes the perfect gift.

Our first guest, Maria Ruiz Scaperlanda, is an internationally known author and journalist from Norman, who has just received the most prestigious award given by the Catholic Press Association. Her latest book, The Shepherd Who Didn't Run, tells the story of Father Stanley Rother, the heroic priest and martyr from Okarche, who was brutally murdered in Guatemala. Days after our taping, the Vatican announced that it will recognize Fr. Rother's martyrdom. LISTEN NOW

With a great nonfiction book on our list, let's take a look at two great fiction books.  Will Thomas, who joins us over the phone, lives in Broken Arrow and was recently honored as the 2016 Oklahoma Author of the Year. His latest book, a Victorian mystery titled, Hell Bay, is setting the mystery genre on fire. LISTEN NOW

Jane McKellips, a native of Alva, Oklahoma sat down with us to talk about her newest book for kids, "Dust Storm," which details that important time in Oklahoma history. It is a knockout. LISTEN NOW

I hope you find many books by our talented Oklahoma authors under your Christmas tree and remember to give a few in return!

Happy Holidays Everyone!
