Great Stories Make Great Gifts

December 2015

Every December conversation in The Living Room turns to books by authors who have remarkable stories to tell...books that might make a great holiday gift for someone on your list - or maybe even yourself!

The first book we feature is "Out of the Dust," by journalist Tom Lindley who has brought Gene Rainbolt's remarkable and humble story to life. Gene Rainbolt, the Chairman and CEO of Bancfirst, Oklahoma's largest state-chartered bank, has been described as one of the most unique, thoughtful and humane leaders in Oklahoma history. His story starts during the Dust Bowl & the Depression days of the 30’s in Norman, Oklahoma, where a serious little boy sold his mom’s garden veggies from his wagon, and just about everything else he could do to earn a dollar. LISTEN NOW

For our second book feature, we were able to corral an authentic Oklahoma cowboy and his wife in The Living Room. Kent and Shannon Rollins travel the country cooking meals for working cowboys in their restored 1876 Studebaker chuck wagon. You may have seen Kent, who hails from Hollis, Oklahoma, on the Food Networks’ “Chopped,” or NBC’s Food Fighters, or even CBS Sunday Morning. Somehow he and Shannon have also found the time to produce a gem of a cookbook called “A Taste of Cowboy.....Ranch Recipes and Tales from the Trail.” LISTEN NOW
