Authors and Readers

December has a way of turning our thoughts to home and family and all the traditional trappings of the holiday season. That often means selecting gifts and our first two guests have authored new books about music and food – two of our favorite things, especially during the holidays! LISTEN NOW

Byron Berline
is a legendary fiddler – recording and performing with BillMonroe, Earl Scruggs, the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and Vince Gill. He owns and operates the Double Stop Fiddle Shop in Guthrie – and he has a new book, “A Fiddler’s Diary,” outlining stories of his incredible career on the road and in the recording studio.

Lisa Wells
Lisa Wells
is the assistant director of the Pioneer Library System and she helped launch an innovative 24-hour, fully automated library with two locations in Norman, Oklahoma. They are the first two such sites in the country! The idea has gotten rave reviews and sites for additional automated libraries are planned in other major cities nationwide. Lisa tells us how the process works and how Norman was chosen as the "launch site" for this exciting effort to encourage reading in our communities. LISTEN NOW

Edmund Wilson helped foster novelists like Ernest Hemingway and William Faulkner. He once said that “No two persons ever read the same book.” That’s the point, right? Make each book you read, your own. Happy reading, happy holidays, and thank you all for celebrating our third holiday season in THE LIVING ROOM.
